Cookie Policy

Effective date: 17 May 2026
Last updated: 17 May 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how DC Nutrition Nederland (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on https://dcnutrition.eu. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which describes how we process personal data more broadly.

1. Who we are

DC Nutrition Nederland is a personal nutrition coaching practice based in Maastricht, the Netherlands. For privacy and cookie-related questions, contact: dan@dcnutrition.nl.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, phone) when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences over time. We also use related technologies such as localStorage (browser storage) to remember your cookie preferences locally, without sending that data to our servers.

3. Why we use cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Make the website function correctly (essential).
  • Remember your cookie consent choices.
  • Enable optional features such as our online booking tool (Calendly), only if you consent.
  • Understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve content and experience (only with your consent).

4. Categories of cookies we use

Our cookie banner groups cookies into three categories. You can accept or reject each category independently (except strictly necessary cookies, which are required for the site to work).

4.1 Strictly necessary

These cookies are essential for the website and cannot be disabled. They do not store personal data for marketing purposes and do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive.

Name / storage key Purpose Duration Type
dcn_cookie_consent Stores your cookie consent choices (necessary / functional / analytics). 12 months localStorage (first-party)
wordpress_test_cookie Checks whether your browser accepts cookies. Set by WordPress when needed for form submission. Session First-party
PHPSESSID (if applicable) Maintains your session on the server for certain interactive features. Set only when needed. Session First-party

4.2 Functional (Calendly booking)

Loaded only after you accept the “Functional” category. These cookies are set by Calendly when you open the booking widget to schedule a consultation. They allow Calendly to manage your booking session.

Name Provider Purpose Duration
_calendly_session Calendly Maintains the booking session. 21 days
_GRECAPTCHA Google (via Calendly) Bot protection on the Calendly widget. 6 months

See Calendly’s privacy policy for more details.

4.3 Analytics (currently not active)

We do not currently run analytics cookies. If we add a privacy-friendly analytics tool in the future (such as Plausible or a cookieless solution), we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

5. Third-party services and international transfers

Some cookies and embedded features are provided by third parties. When you interact with them, those providers may process your data:

  • Calendly — booking widget. Calendly is operated by Calendly LLC in the United States. Where your data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), Calendly relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
  • Hosting and CDN providers — may set technical cookies for performance, caching, and security. These are typically classed as strictly necessary.

6. Legal basis for cookies (GDPR & ePrivacy)

Under the GDPR and the EU/Dutch ePrivacy rules:

  • Strictly necessary cookies are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in operating a functional, secure website. They do not require prior consent.
  • Functional and analytics cookies are processed only on the basis of your prior consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive).

7. How to manage or withdraw your consent

You can change your choices at any time:

  • Cookie Settings: click the “Cookie Settings” link in the website footer or the small cookie icon at the bottom-left of any page to reopen the preferences panel.
  • Browser controls: all modern browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies. Note that blocking all cookies may disable parts of the site (such as the booking widget).

Browser-specific instructions:

8. “Do Not Track” signals

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is currently no agreed industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT. We respect your explicit consent choices in our cookie banner, which provide stronger and more transparent control than DNT.

9. Children

This website and our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Your rights

Where personal data is processed via cookies, you have the rights described in our Privacy Policy — including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability — and the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, our services, or applicable law. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was most recently revised. Material changes will be communicated through the cookie banner the next time you visit.
